Words from the KKF President, Mr. Thach Ngoc Thach as he leads the organisation into 2007. Thank you for supporting the KKF organization to accomplish some very amazing achievements in 2006. Thank you for being Khmer and Khmer-Krom, for not giving up hope, for trusting our KKF in the international political process and for not throwing out the concept of non violent struggle, our goal to self-determination. Thank you for still hoping, caring, and believing in KKF. If Honorable Son Kuy could change the VN back in the 1600s by refusing to give up our tradition and exchanging his life for us, Khmer, just think what we could achieve with our combined our talent, dedication and compassion. Now, it is time to let our people inland know that they can change the world; not just the VN government. They can show the world that Khmer-Krom people are the original people of the rich fertile lands of the Mekong Delta. To do so, we need Khmer and Khmer-Krom worldwide to mentally, physically, and financially help them to stand on their own feet and walk towards freedom from the human rights oppression. It’s only us, Khmer-Krom abroad be united and only us, one organization and one KKF, can guarantee them to pursue the final destination. We have to catch up with ourselves and stop wondering around and pursuing empty dreams. It is time to arm ourselves and build up our years of experiences, hardship to unite our efforts as one. The time is getting later and we have million of Khmer-Krom to save. If we do not want our children to accuse us of “as a generation of failures” we must act now to help ourselves, our people and our beloved homeland of Kampuchea-Krom. We must contribute on what we can afford, personally and collectively. Otherwise, we may well remember in a few short years as a failed, selfish and short-sighted generation eager to sell our peoples or by cheating them. Parents represented for their families, a head monk represent the temple and every monk in the temple. One representative organization represents peoples of the nation, not two, three or ten can claim to represent one people. We need a “New Agenda” that will allow the international communities to recognize the Khmer-Krom as a “PEOPLE” and our “Self-Determination” goal. An agenda that challenges and brings the very best of our Khmer-Krom character into work. An agenda that has the generational honesty not to try to take advantage of the people by using empty words and promises in similar tactics employed by Vietnamese communist government against our people. The 2007 agenda will be one that continues our tradition of duties and responsibilities, one that is open and honest with our Khmer-Krom people. We need an agenda that stresses patriotism, realism, restraint, common sense and compassion. We have to stop our history from being repeating and changed at will by the Vietnam government. We can make a difference if we believe in ourselves and only then we can change the world, not just the Vietnamese government. To preserve our history, our land and our people, we have to realistic and to do so “United we stand”. Every individual has to take that responsibility and have a personal commitment. “They took our land, they massacred our people, they look down on us, they oppress us, they abuse us and violate our fundamental freedom and rights and never once do they worry about the consequence. The question is why we are afraid of the very people who committed these wrong doings?” T.Thach
