Over forty Khmer-Krom people looking for work in Cambodia was denied entry by Khmer border officials between Cambodia and Vietnam. According to the RFA report on Thurday 15th February 2007, the border officials have claimed that the Khmer-Krom women, men and young children originally from the province of Khleang (renamed Soc Trang) did not have any official documents. One officer has indicated that documents will need to produce in order to determine if they were in fact of Khmer descent in order for them to be allowed entry into Cambodia. According to one Khmer-Krom woman, the high poverty situation and lack of job opportunities has forced them out of Kampuchea-Krom to look for work in Cambodia. However, their efforts and claim to be of Khmer descent were halted as border officials refuse them entry. Read RFA Report in Khmer l Listen to Report
